Danube Delta is rightly called the paradise of birds (and birders) in Europe, as you know, over 460 bird species live or pass through this blessed space. All this program is lead by a specialized bird watching guide.
You can choose a period from 4 day/nights to 7 days/6 nights. First and last day are for transfers, all the rest of the days are full day birding trips by boat. You’ll have boat and guide only for your party.
You have included: specialized birding guide; boat tours for birding, from a boat built for this activity; accommodation, full board; transfers on water, from Tulcea to Mila23 and back.

Itinerary
Day 1: We will wait for you at Port Aval – Tulcea, at 16:00 (or an hour we agreed). You will travel to Mila 23 with a slow speed, on a very good route to see birds. It will be you first 2-3 hours session of birding in the Danube Delta.
Check in at the guest house, then hold a short technical meeting where the guide will inform you about the next day route, Danube Delta peculiarities and birdwatching, boating rules and behavior in a natural reserve.
In the evening the host will delight you with a traditional dinner, based on fresh fish.
Days 2-6 – The daily trips into the Danube Delta will begin early in the morning, before sunrise, to see the birds that begin to feed. This session is aroung 4-5 hours then you will return to the guesthouse for breakfast. After breakfast, you will go out on the water again, for another session. You will start looking for birds around Mila 23 village on short sessions, up to Letea or Caraorman Villages, over 60 km away from Mila23 on long tours (full days tours). You will travel to different places in Danube Delta, the routes being decided on a day to day basis, depending on weather conditions, water level and fresh information that we have from the field.
After you’ll see the last birds in the dusk, you will come back. At the guesthouse, where you’ll taste a traditional fisherman’s dinner.
The guide will search for the stars of these places: Pelicans, both the White and the rare Dalmatians. Of course, you will see also Little and White Egrets, Gray, Purple, Yellow, or Night Heron, the agile Kingfisher, the majestic White-tailed Eagle, noisy Coots, Godwits, Spoonbills, Ibises, Ruffs, Stilts and others.
Of course mammals will be also under spot: otters, wild boars, roe deer, muskrats or the beautiful raccoon dog.
Day 7: After a relaxed breakfast (8:30 am), this time without sunrise session, you will have the transfer back to Tulcea, but now, in the morning, you will have the best light for this route.
* If you choose the transfer from/to the airport with us, we can make a route with several stops in interesting places where we also see several species of birds (if you have enough time).
Accommodation in Danube Delta, Mila 23
You will be checked in at a local guesthouse, in Mila 23 village, in double rooms, each with its own bathroom, television, air conditioner and central heating.
Meals
Usually, you’ll eat in the accommodation saloon or in our partners from other villages (lunch), every lunch and dinner is a local food experience.
Some breakfasts and lunches will be packed (according to the route of the day)
The boat
You’ll go for this birdwatching tour has been built specifically for this activity. The boat is very stable, it has a lot of room, equipped with benches with backrests and pillows.
All tourists will be sitting on the benches facing the direction of travel, with a very high freedom of movement and a 360 degrees field of view.
Birdwatching tours
The most important for us, when we draw the route, is to know your target birds list. Please see the Birds list of Dobruja and the Danube Delta and tell us your targets.
Please have on you:
- Binoculars
- Raincoat
- Insects repellent
- Sunscreen
- Season appropriate clothing, long robes are mandatory, trousers, shirt and a sun hat or you will get a sun burn. Clothing with colors close to nature are recommended; red, white, yellow and blue are to be avoided
- Trekking shoes, especially for the tours to Letea or Caraorman
- Sunglasses

Booking
Bookings are based on 30% deposit. The payment options are: cash, online card payment bank, transfer or Revolut.
The rest of the payment have to be done 30 days before the tour start. If the tour is booked less then 30 days before departure, the full price will be paid.
More then 90 days before the program you can postpone the trip (you will receive a voucher available 2 years). Less then 90 days before the trip, the deposit is not refundable.
